New coins to be released on Statistic day

The National Statistics Day is celebrated every year tomorrow on 29th June. It is celebrated to mark the 125th anniversary of renowned statistician Prof. P.C Mahalanobis. This day was added in the category of special days by the government of India in 2007.This day is commenced to create public awareness about the significant contribution of Mahalanobis in this field with the importance of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy formulation. This year the theme followed to celebrate this event is ‘Quality Assurance in Official Statistics’.
To future mark, this occasion the Vice-President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu will release commemorative coin of rupees 125 and circulation coin of Rs 5 denominations tomorrow.
